Ask the Vampires, Question 1 Part D

Posted: Tuesday, 8 May, 2012 by deacongray in Ask the Vampires, Community Articles

While the GraveYard Press has always been open for comments, both good and bad, there has not really been a way for readers to ask questions directly of the staff. Not all of our readers are vampires, nor are they all familiar with the Online Vampire Community. And that leads to questions. They might be questions many within the community have answered a hundred times over; they might be questions that make us groan; they might be questions that make us stop and think; and they might be questions that make us giggle. These do not matter. In order to better facilitate an open dialogue between community newcomers and outsiders, the Ask the Vampire page was opened, and it is open to all questions. This week, the staff of the GraveYard Press is pleased to introduce the first set of questions posed:

are vampires made or are they born that way? also is vampirism a virus or genetically inherited? if vampirism is a genetically inherited trait do you have to get it from both parents or is it passed paternally or maternally? are there any special gifts that a vampire posses then better senses, stronger, smarter, and faster? if vampirism is a virus how do you catch it? and if you can be turned into a vampire then what is the proccess?

The questions were sent to volunteers within the community: David M. Criophix (DCM), Amelia Nightside (AM), Heidica Northernlight (HM), Hollow Link (HL), Emma Emz Karlane (EEK), and Nastassia Daathschild Morrison (NDM) answered from the community at large. Mind, they are speaking only their opinions, not for the community as a whole. The questions were also posed to all members of the GraveYard Press staff. The questions were answered by Mikyla Abigor (MA), Anya Ligeia Rakoczy (ALR), Deacon Gray (DG), and Valiant Ferguson Steinhauer (VFS). Not everyone answered all questions.

For better ease of reading, the question will be posted, followed by the answers (respondent denoted by initials, as listed above). Because of the number and depth of the responses, we are going to tackle each question by itself. They are all worth reading, so please tune in!

  1. are there any special gifts that a vampire posses then better senses, stronger, smarter, and faster?

DMC: Everyone is different but for the most part we have a better sense sometimes of energy and sometimes smell. Everyone has their own uniqueness and way of seeing and sensing things.

AN: This also seems to be a varied experience by individual. The only anything I personally attribute to vampirism is a Hunger for blood and/or metaphysical life-force energy in addition to all other normal, humanly needs. Some claim a heightened sense of perception(s) either as a symptom of the Hunger (When one is hungry or vulnerable in any way, one can easily be overwhelmed by normal senses and stresses, making it seem as though such senses and perceptions are heightened) or as a result of having fed (One could also have their senses dulled after a time, just like with normal hunger, coming back to normal, could be percieved as improving of senses).

HN: Special gifts? I am not much stronger, faster or smarter than anyone else I think I do believe I am born with a potential to develop certain abilitys though, and that practising and learning about your abilitys will increase your potential.

EEK: Vampires come under three categories; Pranic, Psi and Sanguine. The Pranic feed on energy in much the same way as Psi but through a different method – most likely through sexual or any kind of physical contact with the “donor”. Psi feed on energy and can draw energy from the world around them without so much as needing to touch anything or make it known; though it is more courtesy to let your donor know you are doing so. Finally Sanguine feed via blood intake. The powers possessed could essentially vary between the three however, although this really depends on what level of intelligence or strength they would have if they didn’t know they were a vampire. Some senses, such as psychic, vision and hearing can appear amplified but again this is a questionable matter.

NDM:  yes, I have knowing and memories of the darkness and of times before. I have met healers whom were vamp also my grandfather could speak with all thing past over. He said that the blood spoke to him.

MA: I do not believe there are any special gifts bestowed upon those of us who are vampiric. Some do, however.

ALR: It is my opinion that vampires, like nonvampires, may be born with a number of shall we say, metaphysical or occult gifts, and that these may be cultivated though study and practice. That said, I believe those of a vampiric nature do have certain advantages; as do hawks, lions, and other predators.

DG: I don’t believe there are any measurable gifts such as the question describes, but I do think that need breeds development so while vamps are no more innately than any other human, the need to learn some levels of energy work, and or empathetic development might push vamps more actively to seek such enlightenments.

VFS: Well, it would be nice if this were the case, but I tend to think these things can be a part of human existence also. I have always thought the veils were much thinner for me than others, but have met many humans in which they were quite a bit more gifted. Damn!!
